The Roundhill Cannabis ETF may utilize total return swaps to provide exposure to U.S. focused cannabis companies. Total return swaps are over-the-counter derivatives which provide the fund with exposure to the underlying reference assets (i.e. MSOs). Total return swaps introduce counterparty risk via swap counterparties that the Fund engages with.

WEED currently provides exposure to:
  • Curaleaf, Green Thumb Industries, Trulieve, Verano Holdings, and Cresco Labs.
Cannabis Sector Highlights:
  • The global legal cannabis market is expected to generate more than $61 billion in sales by 2026, more than doubling 2021's $29 billion in sales.(BDSA)
  • Cannabis is currently legal in some form in 39 U.S. states and Washington D.C, including 21 states which have regulated recreational markets. Legal U.S. cannabis sales are expected to surpass $28 billion in 2022. (Bloomberg Intelligence, BDSA)
  • Cannabis remains illegal at the federal level in the United States and potential federal legalization would represent a significant tailwind for the sector. In April 2022, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the MORE Act, which would serve to decriminalize cannabis on a federal level.
